Cyprus Holiday Diary 3
8th October 2017
We started to come here in 2010.
We love it so much that we come every year at the beginning of October. The temperatures in the air and the water are perfect. Perfect for swimming and sunbathing. Simon and I love both of them.
So this year is the 8th year. It's our 7 days holiday, between 4th and 11th October !
And you can't get bored if you like nature and walking too !
Today we went to the beach even though it was cloudy and raining from time to time. It was warm and the water temperature was about 26 degrees C !
I don't know if I will manage to describe as to how close to reality it was ! We went swimming the moment we arrived on the beach. The beach was empty, 3-4 people and nobody in the water. The sea was all ours ! It was great ! There were waves, but not so big, just enough to make you enjoy more ! And it started to rain quite heavily ! The sea was very crinkled and if you put your head under the water you can hear the rain ! It is like a smooth sound of drums ! And if it gets heavier the sound gets stronger ! It is a wonderful experience ! I had it in Romania and I was very glad that Simon was able to experience it ! In Romania, in the far West-North corner, near a city named Oradea we have hot water springs and we have a resort, Felix, with swimming pools from these waters (you can also get spa-treatments for different illnesses, there are sulphuric waters as well). You can go any season, warm or cold – even in the winter – to swim, because you go into the swimming pool from inside and it continues outside. So you have snow around you while you are swimming ! There I was when it was a heavy rain and I was in the water !
We were like children in a play-ground ! And we were alone ! I don't have enough words to describe the beauty of those moments !
Unfortunately after a while, being a little bit windy, the clouds dissipated and the sun started to shine and lots of people started to appear on the beach.
But we were happy we had our moments !
We came back in the afternoon, after having lunch and a little rest. The sea started to be rougher, the waves bigger ! I love waves, being used with the Black Sea, which can be very rough. Simon wasn't so keen because he likes floating and with such waves it is not so easy and pleasant, even though you go further into deeper water.
We went back to our room, changed and then went to the harbour.
This part of the harbour is very nicely done for walking along the sea and it is full with restaurants and small shops with lots of funny things you can buy as souvenirs, clothes, jewels and all sorts of things, anything one can think of !
We had a nice walk, Simon bought for me a helium balloon in the shape of a bunny head which I gave in the end to a little girl with Down syndrome.
And we found a nice little cafe called “English Rose” where you could listen to nice music (70's) and we had a nice glass of fresh orange juice and Simon had a crepe !
We felt very good with the way the day ended !
9th October
It was a very windy day and the sea was really rough with big waves, so big that one could almost surf ! We left the beach and Simon and I decided we want an action camera one that can go in the water and film !
After quite a long search we finally manage to find what we wanted, actually what Simon was looking for. I am not so much up to date with new technology.
We went back home to charge a little bit the camera and then off we go to test it. We decided to stop at a place along the road that is very close to the sea and has a small rocky beach. The sea looked even rougher ! Simon started to film the sea, the waves, started to go closer ! Some waves were smaller, some bigger ! One wave caught Simon and trying to get away from it I just saw Simon with his legs in the air, his body in the the water ! Fully dressed ! I couldn't stop laughing ! I took the camera filming him ! Then he had to take his shorts and the T-shirt off, remaining only in his pants ! We were on the side of a busy road, Simon showing his bum and me filming him !
Crazy people !
I couldn't believe when I tried to wash his shorts and shirt how full of sand they were ! Like he was buried in the sand ! Only because of one wave (yes, one full of sand, the sea being so rough !)
10th, 11th October
The holiday is at the end, no more big adventures !
We did go-karting, Simon filming all the time with his “new toy” action-camera on his helmet !
It was fun !
